Adolescent Interview Paper Adolescent 2 In this paper I will attempt to analyze the growth and behavior of a 15 year old adolescent that I have already interviewed. I have made observations and asked questions based on three areas of development: physical, cognitive, and psychosocial. Physical development includes such things as body structure and function, development of sexual characteristics (puberty), habitual responses, and motor development. The adolescents’ cognitive development includes such aspects as their development of reality, self identification, and role experimentation. Lastly, psychosocial development encompasses such issues as independence, peer group identification, rebellion, idealism, sexual attitudes and emotional responses. I will then compare and contrast what I have observed with current research on normal adolescent development during these years of life. Physical The girl that I observed was a 15 year old female of Caucasian and Hispanic descent. She was 64 inches tall and weighed 135 pounds. In relation to normal heights and weights of girls her age, her height was normal but her weight fell into the overweight category. Normal weight for her height is 85-120 pounds (Wong, Hockenberry, WIlson, Winkelstein, Kline, 2003). She seemed to have normal fat deposition that occurs in girls her age in the breasts, abdomen, hips and thighs, and also said that she felt that her sexual characteristics were developing normally. Her skin pores were slightly enlarged and she had a small amount of acne and she wore braces, but her dentitious development seemed to be very normal. As far as her habitual responses, she claims to have very unhealthy eating habits, Adolescent 3 which she is fully aware of, and says that she is unhappy with her weight.
