Rock n’ Roll has been around for generations, Rock was explained to have passion, spirit, and others have said there are Mystery, mischief, freedom and rebellion. Multiple types of music make up Rock n’ Roll; it started with music from the African culture into Gospel sung in the black churches. From there it transformed into Blues and Jazz, they mixed into Rhythm and Blues or R&B. After Jazz it turned into Country music also known as Blue Grass. All of the above types of music when combined with attitude and rebelliousness formed a new kind of music that would come to be called Rock n’ Roll. “Part of Rock n’ Roll has to include a certain amount of outlawed nature”. In the beginning there were many different artist that broke a lot of rules. These singers made a way for the future of Rock to come alive. There was Ray Charles a blind musician and singer he was a great piano player, Bo Diddly an important Blues singer and guitarist, And Bill Halley who helped Rock n’ roll along with the writing of the song “Rock Around The Clock ” further more there was Hank Ballard who was the only Black Country singer, Little Richard and then Pat Boone the last of the 1950’s pop singers taking one of little Richards songs and got it started. There was Hank Williams a country artist, Buddy Holly one of the first Rock performers, and Louis Jordan he was known as the first rapper, mixing in fast words with rock music. There was Lynel Hampton, and then Joe Turner who came out with “shake rattle and roll” it was all about having a good time. One of the most influential artists was Chuck Berry. He was the first founder of Rock n’ Roll. He was also considered to be a great poet and creative musician. In the 1940’s and 50’s there were four major recording company’s Columbia, Decker, R.C.A. and Atlantic they’re still around today. These companies controlled the music industry and published the artist that they wanted. The recording industries control made it hard for artists to come out with new styles of different sounds that people disapproved of. Alan Freed was an important disc jockey of the 1950’s. He took a chance at playing Rock n’ Roll over the radio, the things he played was mostly the underground Rock music that the record companies didn’t see fit to produce, and the youth loved it. The records were played at night after the stations played there regularly programmed classical music. Kids would stay of at night to listen to the music that Allen would play. The Atlantic record company began its carrier by producing "Black artists." And to help them along, there was Quincy Jones a major record producer that helped make many performers famous. In the 50’s performers started on what was known as the litchmin chain. The chain was a series of four theaters where soul artists would have to play to be successful. The chain included The Aerigo, The Howard, The Uptown, and The Apollo Theaters. Rock music was the product of black culture it was hated by adults and the media. A major contributor to the integration of music was Elvis Presley; he helped to get Rock music to the public, making it acceptable for all listeners to enjoy, because he was white. Much of the music was already enjoyed by the younger generation and color was never a factor. He brought the black style of Jazz and Rhythm & Blues. He teamed together with the melody of white music to appeal to all white audiences. When Elvis came out he gave the new form of music and a lot of sex appeal for his time, which a lot of the people did not like. Later on after Elvis, new artist used his style and the popular image he created. Beginning at this point Rock n’ Rock began to become more and more obscene. As part of his performance Elvis would move his hips to the music, which at the time was considered to be vulgar for its time. But by today’s standard it’s a pretty clean. Roy Robison was Presley’s idol and he admired him a lot. He was the first of the white artists to record in a recording studio, when before only black musicians recorded their music. In the early 1950’s, Gospel music transformed into soul where it quickly grew, sometimes being described as the essence of the human spirit and soul. Soul music was often full of great singers, dancers, and performers of many kinds. One of the most remembered was James brown a great singer and dancer who was actually the first to do the "Moonwalk" a form of dance.
