1. The comparison between utterance and sentence : - An utterance is a physical event (event that lasting for short time), whether a sentence is not a physical event. - An utterance is a piece of language such as a sequence of sentences, a single sentence, a single clause, a single phrase, or just a single word, used by particular people in particular occasion. Meanwhile, a sentence is a grammatically complete string of words expressing a complete thought. - An utterance is any stretch of talk, when there is a silence on the part of the person. Meanwhile, a sentence always consists of the same words and in the same order. For example: Teacher: who is her? (utterance) Student: she is my mother.
