Success in Uniforms

Experiment––Better or Worse
“Long Beach, California was the first public-school district to adopt mandatory school uniforms…after just one year, dramatic drops in violence and discipline problems, as well as higher test scores were reported”. Long Beach Unified School District performed a large and risky experiment to see if uniforms actually had an impact on the students. They took a high school that consisted of approximately 400 students and made them wear school uniforms for a year, while they took a school of about the same size that had previously worn uniforms, and told them not to.
