I forget

Historian’s debate the revolutionary effect the war had on women however it is evident that the war did have an affect on British women at the home front during the period of WWI. WWI had a revolutionary effect on the everyday lives and also on societies perception on women. The biggest change was that women started to work. These included the munitions industry, voluntary work, armed services and so on. The size of the female munitions workforce in July 1914 was 212 999 and this number had increased by 1918 to over 700 000 to 950 000. There work was so crucial since the soldiers fighting in the war depended on the women. However the work was dangerous, evidence supporting this is that over 200 women munitionettes were killed, an explosion claimed 69 lives, and munitionettes could contract TNT poisoning and their skin could create a yellow tinge from the chemicals they were surrounded with.
