I believe the story “What My Lips Have Kissed” is about an individual who has been heart broken by a former love. The poems tone is of sadness, and throughout the poem, the author repeats on and on again how lonely he/she has become. The narrator also points out that through all the break ups he/she has had throughout his life, this particular love was one he/she did not want to break from. The narrator is obviously depressed, and getting over the relationship is one that the narrator is unable to overcome. The narrator also points out in the line, "Under my head till morning; but the rain is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh; Upon the glass and listen for reply", the fact that he/she is now feeling the pain and suffering of everyone who has ever lost a love in their life, and now he/she must go on through the night with no one by his/her side.
