A True American Icon
Throughout Decades, there have been millions of American icons that have had great effects on our cultures priorities and values. An Icon is something or someone that has a cultural and a social image that play a huge role in society. A great example of an American cultural icon, is a woman who has risen from poverty and a troubled youth to become the most powerful and influential woman in television, and not to forget the world’s most highly paid entertainer, Oprah Winfrey. ... she also has made a commitment toward making the world a better place ultimately proving she is more then worthy of the “title” Icon.
Oprah Winfrey “works” as an Icon in our culture mainly because of all of her accomplishments and her good deeds on American society. ... Oprah is a hard working independent African American woman who has achieved everything on her own with out the help of others.
