In the January 2003 issue of Discover magazine, an article made the claim that America consumes two times the amount of natural resources than the rest of the world combined. But wait, there’s more, we also make sure to pollute two times the world combined as well. If we are indeed the world’s greatest superpower, if we are indeed the light of the oppressed, if we are indeed the bastion of free thinking, and democracy, then shouldn’t we be leading the way on this all-affecting, critical issue?
