In the classic novel, A Catcher in the Rye, written by J.D. Salinger, Holden is the main character. He is a very pessimistic person and is highly critical of others. Holden is representative of most teenagers. Often times he uses bad language when he speaks. Holden also thinks of girls frequently. His distinct personality is very characteristic of most teenagers. The majority of adolescents use bad language. Holden does this very often. He is not even aware of his inappropriate language at times. Throughout the story Holden is swearing and disrespectful to people with his improper language.
