2.0 Product Design Specification 1) Function/Performance a. Contain and protect travellers luggage throughout a journey b. Collapse or fold for compact storage 2) Environment a. The case must withstand aggressive handling on both automated and manual systems. The case could be subject to the following forces: i. Shock ii. Vibration iii. Compression (static and dynamic) (more details on exact forces from ANTLER) b. The case must withstand pressure changes when at altitude. The maximum pressure exerted on the case is: ANTLER c. Temperatures may range from ANTLER to ANTLER d. The case may become wet through rain or a humid environment. The content of the case should be protected from this moisture. 3) Life Span a. Although most customers will only use the case once or twice a year it must be designed to withstand weekly use by other customers. b. The case should withstand 20 years of frequent use. c. The folding concept of the case is likely to stay in service indefinitely however the shape and design of each component is likely to change every five years. 4) Maintenance a. Vulnerable areas of the case likely to damage (such as the wheels and handles) should be replaceable by the consumer.
