Introduction: Alzheimer’s disease is a neurodegenerative disorder, which attacks nerve cells in the cortex of the brain. It leads to impairment of emotional central, coordination, loss of bodily functions and memory and eventually death (Klatt 2000). One type of Alzheimer’s is the familial type, which is genetically inherited and accounts for a very small percentage of Alzheimer disease cases (about 10%) (Ageless design 2001). Familial Alzheimer’s also affects its victims at an earlier age than the other type of Alzheimer’s disease, the sporadic type (environmentally caused) would. Symptoms of familial Alzheimer’s are characterized by a gradual, progressive decline in three main areas.
