My theme for this project is innocence, because in everything
and everyone, no matter who or what they are, there is always a
sense of truth or innocence.
A person could seem so angry with everyone or even hurt
people, but even so, that person was once innocent and if dug
into deeper that innocence could be found again.
In Jane Alexander’s work there is always that hint of innocence,
no matter how horrific or twisted the piece may be.
Jane Alexander’s work is based on the horrors of apartheid and
socio-political issues and shows us how inhuman the past has
been on people.
Most of her work speaks to me like how my personal poems and
taste in music speaks to me, loud, full of meaning, angry and
expressive.
Jane Alexander’s art is so expressive and so much is going on at
any given time, but while the spectator is analysing the work,
you get so drawn in and almost feel sorry for the figures.
Which brings me back to my first theme of innocence.
The artwork of Jane Alexander is a almost a morbid dream like
meets nightmare look into the past, but even so people are even
more drawn to it. ...
Every side and every part of this sculptor has been amazingly
worked at so that your imagination can just be let free, into
putting this work in your own perspective.
The sculptor was made after Jane Alexander heard about a
crippled man in her building, which had been found dead in the
buildings boiler.
