Warning

The Story of ˇ§The Man Who Was Almost a Manˇ¨ talks about how Dave, the main character of the story and a kid who are so ready to be a man, become a man. However, his strong and intense willingness to be a man leads him on the wrong side of the path and even blinds his consciousness. He believes that obtaining a gun is the way to be a man. Therefore, he purchased a gun with two dollars and has it with him even while working. After he was assigned to plow with a mule called Jenny for a while, he stops working to explore his new treasure, the gun. Unfortunately, he accidentally hits the trigger and shoots at the mule. After the other man found out he killed Jenny, he is punished to pay two dollars each month in addition to working without pay. However, Dave doesnˇ¦t think he has to be punished just because he killed a mule. Therefore, he leave his house to catch a train to somewhere where he could be a man with the gun carried in his pocket.
