Family Portrait To look at out family Christmas pictures you would never know the amount of work and stress that was involved. The day started out ordinary enough, well ordinary enough for anyone with two small children. Jacob, an energetic three year old, and Jonah, an overly destructive one and a half year old were the usual handful about getting dressed and ready to be anywhere on time; despite all the normal hassles, we were off, my wife, Melissa, Jonah, Jacob, and myself. All ready for our 1:30 PM appointment for pictures. We arrived at Stonecrest Mall, where my father was the mall Santa Claus, around 1:15 and by the time we found the picture studio it was about 1:25. “Just in time,” I thought to myself as I looked around and was surprised to see a large number of children and families crowding the waiting area. “Sign in right here,” exclaimed a wonderfully polite receptionist, “We are running a tad bit behind today so just have a seat and we will call you soon.” “How long will we have to wait?” my Melissa snapped back at her. The answer we got was not at all comforting, “Only about an hour,” she answered reluctantly. After hearing this news we tried to make ourselves comfortable and keep the children in the “happy picture” mood.
