Some people disagree with this statement because they find it hard to forgive if they have been hurt, which is understandable because they might think that the offender might have hurt them on purpose. They also might find it hard to forgive because they think that the offender should be punished for their actions and by not offering forgiveness they feel that this acts as a punishment in its own way.
