Kainantu to Ukarumpa Traveling up the SIL ¡®high-way¡¯ is a daily routine for me. In order to save the beautiful princess, a knight must first battle the mighty fire breathing dragon, then tackle and crawl through the thick bushes filled with thorns, to get to his reward. I my-self, though not a knight, still do everyday battle through the thick misty fog, bear the bottom hurting thumps due to the pit-holes on the road and the mountain climates. My reward, school, friendly teachers and fellow peers plus lots of home assignments. Going to Ukarumpa is not only a physical challenge but a mental stress too. Rumors have being spreading every-where about how, each year, numerous cars gets held up on there way to SIL. To actually meet the German kid who got slashed by a bush knife on her face, really terrified both me and my family. The worst part is her family members are missionaries! What¡¯s the world coming to? My mother says whenever I leave home for school she starts imagining me getting snatched away by ¡®rascals¡¯, the local bandits. Her angst begins the moment I am out of the door, on the way to Ukarumpa. She has never had a night of blissful sleep since the beginning of this term. As for me, I also lost a few nights of peacefulness but what choice have I got?
