Devices Capabilities Limitations Display unit or monitor Monitors are able to display mono and color text and images by setting the attributes of the pixels used in the image. Attributes include position, color and intensity. Monitors vary in size and resolution. It is often not possible to view whole documents at once without scrolling. Eye strain due to the flicker of some CRT screens can be a problem. Depending on the dimensions and resolution of the screen page preview can be restricted. Printer Printers output text and graphics then documented and viewed on paper, communicated to others. Print in color as well as black and white, resolution and quality and be chosen. Speed is also a limitation, but high speed printers are expensive. Quality of black and white output can be poor on color printers. Limited by dpi or resolution range they are capable of printing. Data Projector Data projectors enable output to be viewed by a wider audience than with a normal display. They can display a full color. They can display graphics and video. Expensive. Resolution on the projection screen may not be as sharp as the image on the monitor. 2. 3.
