Mandatory Drug Testing in the Workplace The use of drugs in the workplace is a growing concern in corporate America. Mandatory drug testing forces employees to take a drug test even if it is against their will. One-Third of American corporations now requires their employees to be tested for drug use (Workplace 37). Although, mandatory drug testing may impose on an employee’s privacy, it could also prevent accidents on the job and save lives. Should mandatory drug testing be enforced in the workplace? Mandatory drug testing in the workplace is important because its main purpose is to protect the safety of innocent people who may be endangered by the behavior of employees under the influence.
