Is Gatsby a tragic hero?
The character ‘Jay Gatsby’ in The Great Gatsby is an excellent example for a tragic hero. In literature, a character that has a personality trait that raises him to the heights and then, in turn, lowers him to the depths is considered to be a tragic hero. In addition, his strength has to be something important and integral to the hero’s society. The hero’s fall is caused by a character flaw or error in judgment which is called his or her tragic flaw.
