Taming of the Shrew

Taming of the Shrew Shakespeare’s Life: William Shakespeare was born on April 23, 1564, and baptized 3 days later on April 26, in Holy Trinity Church. William is the third child of John Shakespeare and Mary Arden, daughter of a wealthy landowner. John Shakespeare owned a house on Greenhill Street and two on Henley Street. Every year, Henley Street house drew in many tourists. William had two older sisters that died during infancy and three brothers and tow sisters who survived at least childhood. Shakespeare most likely attended the town school but there are no records of it. At the age of 18, he married Anne Hathaway, and they had three children; Susanna, Hamlet, and Judith. Shakespeare’s years before and immediately after the time of this marriage were not recorded. It was rumored that William worked as an apprentice to a school master butcher, and as a country teacher or an actor with some principal. Shakespeare is suppose to have run away for livelihood and to have gone to London, where he joined with a theatrical group.
