	(Harry) Sinclair Lewis was born on February 7, 1885 in Sauk Centre, Minnesota to Doctor Erwin J. Lewis and Emma Kermott Lewis. Sinclair Lewis was a clumsy child who never seemed to be able to keep up with his better-looking, more well-rounded older brother. (8) Lewis worked under Upton Sinclair at Helicon Home Colony after graduating from Yale University in 1908. In 1914, Lewis married Grace Heggar, whom he divorced in 1925.
