I had the pleasure of viewing the painting Adoration of the Shepherds at the Columbus Museum of Art on Wednesday, January 21, 2004. Although it is not known who painted this version of Adoration of the Shepherds. It is known that it was created sometime in 1640, after Guido Reni. This is a painting of Mary, Joseph, two angels, five shepherds and one child. They all are staring amazingly at Baby Jesus. They seem to be in awe. Mary and the child demonstrate prayer hands while everyone holds their hands to their chest with an overwhelming look on their faces. Jesus is in the center of the painting, just as humanism describes human beings as being the center of focus for the entire universe.
