Post modern anti globalization movement in the face of neo liberalism

The chapter "Beyond Neoliberalism to the International of Hope" by Gustavo Estava and Madhi Suri Prakash approaches the topic of global thinking in the revolt against globalization from a very critical and philosophical perspective. ... It is being criticized for being an ambiguous and vintage approach that needs to give way to the post modern approach of reaching inwards toward localities in actually making impacting change. Estavo and Prakash cite the successes of Ghandi`s Salt March and the Zapatistas as inspiration and models for this post modern strategy. ... They claim that these terms are nothing more than an illusion created by the arrogance of modern man asserting that they can `know` and manage the whole world based on the human capability of only knowing their own social and cultural constructs. ... The citations of Ghandi`s Salt March and the Zapatista`s movement share the common thread of rediscovering strength by ignoring the power dynamics and rising not to establish a new regime but to expose that power can only be exerted if the powerless let them.
The authors make it very clear that the goals of this new movement is still to maintain a transnational solidarity between grassroots organization, it just refuses to end there and encourages pro-activism on a realistic level. ... The authors conclude that the ultimate goal of this post modern model is to keep global awareness thriving so that communities can learn from each other how to escape the neoliberal grip and from there diverge into their own path of satisfying local needs and liberation.
