Good morning, have you ever had the experience of having the
electricity go out at home, if you aren’t prepared your left sitting
in the dark. ... As
we are filled by God with the Holy Spirit, we are empowered to
become the lights that shine in the darkness leading others safely
into the harbor of Christ’s Love.
My name is Bill Boggan and the name of this Talk is
GOD EMPOWERS YOU! ...
❶ GOD EMPOWERS us to live a Christ-like life.
➢ Earlier this weekend in the talk, God designed you, we
learned that God made us, God pursues us and is
offering us a relationship of love. ...
➢ Then in God Loves You, we heard that God gives
us Faith to enter into this relationship with Himself,
and to live afresh and anew as new creations, Beloved
Children of God. ...
➢ In God Sustains You, we learned that God’s Love
never changes towards us. Let me repeat that God’s
love never changes toward us, even when we have
obstacles come our way. God’s grace still accepts us
and forgives us. ...
This morning I want to tell you that God will give you a life
line of nourishment and strength in our relationship with Him
that will last all of our lives. He will give us the ability to grow
up to be the mighty Sons and Daughters of God He knew we
could be. ... Sanctifying grace
draws us toward the gift of Christian perfection, which can be
described as having your heart "habitually filled with the love of
God and neighbor" and as "having the mind of Christ and
walking as he walked. ...
When Jesus ascended to Heaven, He promised the disciples
and all the rest of mankind that God would send another
comforter. The Holy Spirit is that comforter, He is God’s
presence and power within and in our lives. ... The Holy
Spirit empowers us to die to our selfish ways, to die to self
and to rise with Christ again and again so that we may fly
with Christ in service of love and continually grow into
His likeness.
When you set out to follow Jesus, God has promised
that He will give you the power to do so.
When we risk by living out our faith in Jesus, God
promises that He will be present with you. ... It tells of a man who
dreamed that he died, and in heaven he saw his life flash
before him and God. ... When the man
questioned God about this, God replied “My son those were
the time I carried you!”
If you decide to truly live a Christ-like life, God promises
to give you the power for you to do so. Through the power
of His Holy Spirit with in us, God sends His power to us
and through us. ...
✏ The Holy Spirit gives us pardon
We do not change to win God’s love, but rather because
God loves us, we desire to change. ... God through the Holy spirit gives us pardon
and begins changing us from the inside out. ... When I
came home I was mad at God, mad at the Army. ...
Yet God led me to another church where I felt His love not only
in the words of the people, but in their actions as well. ...
Christ’s righteousness was His perfect love for God and all
people. ... The Holy Spirit empowers you to live a pure
and Holy life. ... As I looked over the Scriptures, God led me to the
Book of Philemon. ... God
revealed that I needed to forgive my Step-father for his
psychological and emotional abuse I’d suffered growing up. ... It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do so far,
but God gave me the power, the ability to do it.
