If you were to connect both terminals of the battery directly to those of the motor, the latter would turn in one direction only and would turn without interruption until the battery is drained. By introducing a switch in the circuit, you will be able to change the direction of the current and to interrupt it. Switches come in various sizes, types and styles. Their basic principle of operation is described below. The goal is to construct a circuit such that for: Position 1) the positive terminal of the battery is connected to terminal A of the motor and the negative terminal of the battery is connected to terminal B of the motor.
