We live in a world that has been changed through tragedy and despair. The actions of a group of terrorists have brought the government to be suspicious of its own people. This suspicion spawned the Homeland Defense Act, which gave the government more power in other areas that it deems necessary. The most popular political focus, which was included in the Homeland Defense Act, was hacking and hackers. Can the government really change the very procedure laid down by the constitution of the United States to do what it wants? The answer is yes, and Kevin Mitnick is the first primary example of this. According to an excerpt, found at http://en2.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Mitnick, Kevin was held in prison for four years without a bail hearing. Kevin said that he had set some kind of United States record by being held for four and a half years without a bail hearing (Mitnick).
