Documentary Essay
The topic that I am writing about in detail is documentaries. I am going to compare two different documentaries and say how they work and how they fit in to the documentary genre. The aim of a documentary is to research and address a topic that the company thinks the public should know more about and to get across the facts. Traditionally it is made to inform but it has become more about entertaining as documentary has been split into sub-genres which are increasingly hard to define. ... The documentary manipulates digetic and non-digetic sounds throughout to tweak emotions of the viewers. ... The non-digetic soundtrack is a clever technique of making you feel sorry for the deer when they are being tracked down, there is a sad tone of music which makes you feel depressed, so I think this documentary does stray away from the normal unbiased ness because I think it is trying to help the deer in a way. ... This documentary has the codes and conventions of a traditional documentary which gives the facts and displays opinions although I think there is a sense of bias towards the deer.
