A teenage boy is at school one day when he finds out that all of his friends are going to a party this weekend. He, like ever other teenager, wants to attend this huge party. He doesn’t really tell his parents that he’s going to a party, but he does have a curfew set for ten o’clock. He goes to the party and ends up leaving around 10:30 without calling his parents and notifying that he is all right and he will be home soon. In the next few paragraphs I will describe to you the difference in reactions between an authoritarian parent, permissive parent and authoritative parent. Authoritarian parents are parents who make rules to never be broken. Without any excuses or any rules to be questioned is how authoritarian parents play the role of parents. From the conflict above an authoritarian parent would, without a doubt, be angry, disappointed and sometimes physical with the child. In this situation, the boy would show up late and walk in with the parents sitting on the couch waiting for him to come home.
