Jean Moulin, the son of a professor of history, was born in Belziers, France on June, 20th, 1899. ... After the war Moulin joined the civil service and rose rapidly to become the countrys youngest prefect. Influenced by his friend, Pierre Cot, a radical pacifist, Moulin developed left-wing views. Jean Moulin was a hero of France and had a big impact on France’s history.
     When the Germans occupied France in June of 1940, Moulin refused to cooperate. ... When Moulin refused to do this he was himself removed from office. Over the next several months, Moulin contacted many other people who wanted to overthrow the Vichy Government and drive the Germans out of France.
