The South Island High Country is a region of climatic variations. Write paragraphs to describe these climatic features/processes that create these variations. There are numerous features that make variations in the South Island High country. Climate is a major aspect in the manufacture of these variations. West of the main divide cool conditions are experienced where there is always lasting snow in the higher altitudes. The rainfall can exceed 2000mm but many of the locations receive rainfall in the vicinity of 1300mm-2000mm. Tracking east of the main divide. The temperatures will increase and the annual rain fall will diminish from 1300mm-600mm per year. Altitude also is a component in the composition of the climatic features because as we begin to ascend we have a decreased temperature.
