Women, whether Arab or none, form more than half the population of our universe. Nevertheless, this increase in number wasn’t enough for women to be respected and given all their humanitarian, social, and personal rights in all different circumstances of life. Women were forbidden and denied all these rights in all different cultures and ethnic collectivities that have marked the surface of our planet before Islam. Islam then came to free Eve from the chains of incompletion that has come upon her against her will. Also, Islam has raised women from nothing to something and set them at the same level next to men in most aspects of life. Yet, Islam has specialized some aspects for men to be more superior over women for reasonable motives that will be explained later. As for now let’s have a look on women before Islam.
In the Ancient Greek Rule, women were denied their right of education. ...
As for the Roman Empire, it was stated in the Roman law that women are monuments or “items” again. ... The Persians didn’t stop at that extent rather, they continued deeper in humiliating the women. ...
Finally, women in Christianity were considered as less as the word “nothing”. ...
Obviously, all the religions, ethnicities and cultures listed above have degraded women, insulted them, sold them, bought them and used them for pleasure. ... God knew that so he sent Islam with the corrections. Islam has given women rights in every aspect of life. Women in Islam have roles in humanitarian, social, religious, and economical
Firstly, in the humanitarian aspect, Islam gives the sense of equality to women. It sees no difference between men and women unless for a logical reason. Women and men come from the same soul according to God’s holy words in the quraan: “ O MANKIND ! FEAR YOUR GUARDIAN LORD, WHO CREATED YOU FROM A SINGLE PERSON, CREATED, OUT OF IT, HIS MATE, AND FROM THE TWAIN SCATTERED COUNTLESS MEN AND WOMEN” (Sourat Al Nisaa ; 1). In Islam, women are human beings with souls identical to these souls in men. ... Islam has freed women from the chains of “the curse” put on her. ...
Secondly in the social aspect, Islam granted women the right of education, not only that, it also encouraged her to do so. Islam made sure that parents would educate their daughters and treat them in good manner. Islam forbade burying the new born females, on the contrary, it has named father who do that sinful and indeed, encouraged fathers to raise them well and treat them equal to their sons. ... Islam has given a woman the right to see who she weds before marriage and then it is her choice to either agree or not. ... As wives, Islam has given them rights just like those of their husbands and taught their husbands to treat them nicely and respect their rights.
Thirdly in the religious aspect, a woman has her individual duties towards Islam. Women and men in this aspect are exactly equal and the only way one can be better than the other is by extreme goodness as mentioned in the holy Quraan : “O MANKIND ! ... A woman also has her own separate responsibilities towards Allah like her responsibilities towards Islam and her responsibilities towards her family. A woman in Islam is given liberty in opinion and was occasionally asked her point of view in many matters of the Muslims in earlier ages. For example, Omar Ibn Alkhattab often returned to many wise women back then like Khawla Bint Tha’laba and Asma Bint Omais.
