Time and FABLES

This manipulation of time is done through several different techniques, each of which adds to the comic’s overall presence to the reader. The panel seems to have the biggest effect on time. ... The panel is the actual indicator that time and space are being divided. In Fables this use of the panel to show the passage of time is greatly emphasized.
Upon opening this comic the reader can’t help but be thrown into a world of chaotically placed panels. Some panels in this section of the comic have no borders to add to the manipulation of time, while other panels still hold to there classic rectangular form. ... An example of this is on page two of the comic there is a conflict between the characters Goldilocks and Bigby Wolf. (Figure 1) During this conflict time is constantly manipulated in several ways. ... The placement of these panels adds to the feeling of time passing. ... To deal with the passage of time while traveling the creators employed the use of oddly shaped panels.
