Of mice and men

The novel :Of Mice and Men; by John Steinback, involves characteristics represented by age or race. George Milton, one of the main characters, wants to fulfill his dreams of owning a farm with is mentally handicapped friend, Lennie Small. George is a small man who is controlling yet responsible. Lennie is a friendly giant who loves petting animals with soft fur especially rabbits. He is careless, forgetful, and clumsy which gets himself into trouble or be the starter of trouble. George, who Lennie depends on, takes responsibility for Lennie・s actions and controls him by using profanity and abuse. George and Lennie・s arrival at the ranch gives them the privilege to meet people of different ages and personalities. George and Lennie both have unique personalities that were basically nice but due to Lennie・s disability, George and Lennie hold each other back from the world. Personality is a big aspect of their life. It helps their social life in many ways. For George, his outgoing nature lets him meet people of all backgrounds and attitudes. Lennie, on the other hand, is unable to socialize, but he manages to find furry little creatures as his friends. Both George and Lennie have a special personality that is dissimilar from each other・s. George and Lennie have opposite attitudes that let them become better companions. George is considered mean and bossy from the way he treats Lennie. He also enjoys to use swearing and other cruel methods to control his poor friend. Lennie is a lonely fellow who no one tries to make friends with since he is mentally ill. His only good friend, who he follows and trusts, is George. Lennie is very nice but gullible. He has a simple mind with simple thoughts. For example, his dream is to own a farm so he could tend the rabbits. George dreams to own a farm for the benefit and interest of having one. Being opposites was their way to strengthen their friendship.
