Listen to any TV network or newspaper and you could be forgiven for thinking that the youth of today are in dire straits indeed. Newspapers, radio stations, and Television networks all depict youths as out of control, rebellious time bombs
I believe that the media today is too harsh on youth culture. The youth of today thrive on adrenalin. The incredible popularity of extreme sports, rave parties, and the ever-increasing drug culture among teens simply reinforces this fact. ... From the media’s perspective the youths of today are reckless, impatient and irresponsible. ... Many politicians, especially on the eve of big elections such as the one just passed, speak about the rising problem of youth crime. When I began looking into this subject I was convinced that youth crime was on, and had been on, the increase for a long time. However, in an article from the Youth Advocacy Centre in Brisbane the figures show a very different story.
