Many people in power positions misuse their authority to their advantage. Police officers in out modern day society are looked at as peacekeepers that are there for the sole reason to serve and protect. What happens when police officers and the ones we need to be protected from? Although a police officer's job is to serve and protect the people, often times they take advantage of their power. Police officers can be considered the mortal version of an angel, who watches over citizens, protects the innocent and when needed gives guidance. What happens when that angel becomes tainted and leaves people feeling alone. In the case of Norman Scarth v Graham Moore and Neil Taggart, the defendants (Moore and Taggart) were responsible for a group of police officers involving the harassment of Norman Scarth as well as the invasion of his home (Fogarty 1). Norman had exposed corruption within the legal system of the UK and due to his findings legal, judicial and political crimes as well as secret court hearings were considered illegal. (Fogarty 1). Due to this change Norman was threatened many times by Moore’s police officers, including a warning that if he did not stop m aking complaints against the judicial system that the officers would come back to his home and do something worse and they did, they entered his home unlawfully and physically assaulted him causing him t o be hospitaliazed (Fogarty 1).
