The gift of motherhood is the single most profound and transformative rite of passage a woman can experience. Motherhood is the most precious gift as well as the ultimate responsibility, stretching you beyond what you ever imagined you were capable of. Having a baby is the ultimate opportunity to learn the lesson of surrender. The more rigid you are, the harder the process is. The more you try to will things to go certain ways, the more frustrated you become. On the other hand, the more you are willing to go with the flow, the more harmonious your experience will be. The birthing process is the most difficult part of the pregnancy. The natural birth is the preferred choice for every mother. Sometimes you cannot always choose the process you go through. For the cause of complications during the delivery, there are some alternative options. When the baby malpositions itself the delivery may be more difficult, but can still be made, some examples are the upside down presentation, breech, face presentation, or the shoulder presentation (which only occurs in every 200-300 deliveries.) There is also the Forceps delivery, which uses this grasping instrument to grab the baby by the head and pull it out. The last delivery option is a cesarean section (C-section.) In a cesarean section, also called c-section, the baby is born through a surgical incision in her mother's abdomen and uterus. For most women and their infants, vaginal birth is a better and safer option than cesarean, with a shorter and less painful recovery. There are times, however, when the risks of vaginal delivery outweigh the risks of surgery. In these situations, a cesarean can be a lifesaving procedure for the mother or the baby. These birth deliveries can be explained as the best option and worst options possible. The natural birth of course, being the best option, is used in most all births.
