Without question, Jimi Hendrix was one of the most innovative, creative, determined guitarists of all time. While making a name for himself in music history, he blazed the way for other young guitarists to form their own sound while at the same time reaping the benefit from Hendrix’s expertise. After being a sideman throughout the early 1960’s for many ground breaking R&B artists like Little Richard, and the Isley Brothers, Hendrix found himself being held back. His talents weren’t being used to their best abilities so he broke out on his own (“Jimi” 1).
Jimi Hendrix was born Johnny Allen Hendrix in Seattle General Hospital in Seattle, Washington, on November 27, 1942. His Father and mother were Al and Lucille Hendrix. ... During this hard time, Lucille and Jimi lived with anyone who would take them in. ... Lucille eventually left Jimi in care of relatives and went back to the wild nightlife she once had enjoyed.      
When Al got out of the army, he went straight to Berkeley, where Jimi was currently staying, and claimed his son. He brought Jimi back to Seattle with determination to raise him on his own. Jimi was now three by this time and had never met his father. His Father then changed his name to James Marshall Hendrix and called him “Jimmy”.
When Jimi was around the age of ten he would dance around his father’s apartment strumming the kitchen broom. Jimi really wished for a guitar, but there was no money at that time for one. ... It only had one string but he gave it to Jimi anyway, it was much of an improvement over the kitchen broom. Even with this one string Jimi was able to make out recognizable songs. ...
