... Some of us associate firefighters with Ryan from the Bachelorette; others may simply admire the heroes of 9-11. I fall into a category amidst both of these, which is why I want to share with you the dangers that firefighters faced in the World Trade Center terrorist attack, the everyday dangers that firefighters face, and the different types of fatalities and injuries resulting from these dangers. ... These are just two examples of dangerous incidents in which firefighters across the nation face everyday. ... These heroic firefighters put themselves out on a line with all of these dangers simply to try to help others, or merely even save someone else’s life. All of these dangers took a toll on firefighters, killing 343 men and women. Jill Stein, sociologist quoted, “People looked for heroes and found them in firefighters. ... ” I am a firm believer that it took this horrendous attack to make Americans wide-eyed and aware of the dangerous duties and courage that firefighters must behold. ... When a firefighter is injured or dies in the line of duty, there is a special bond that other firefighters feel toward them…they realize that it could have been them. ... ”
Not only were there dangers involved in the September 11th attack, but there are even more everyday dangers that firefighters must meet face to face. ... This is just one scenario that firefighters everywhere face head on.
