Maid in Manhattan by Jennifer Lopez and Ralph Fiennes is the greatest movie that I have ever watched. It is a modern Cinderella movie which will surely inspire, uplift, and give happiness for those who are going to watch it. It is a much seen movie that if you did not watch it you would miss half of your life, for it contains everything that a movie goers would like to see; inspiring and uplifting music, constant flow of scene (not too much flash back included), appropriate setting props and costumes, and believable character, who acts naturally. The genre of this movie is a Cinderella Love story a love story similar to the popular Cinderella (a poor girl becoming a princess) for it also contains the same idea, in which the poor becomes rich in the end the major male and female character will be married. Even if it is a cliché you will not be bored watching it over and over just like reading or watching Cinderella because it will uplift your emotions and will leave you a great smile in the end of the movie. Not like other movies that if you have already watch you will no longer spend time watching it again for its long running hours will surely make you bored . Made in Manhattan though it runs for two hours and ten minutes (2:10) you will not be bored because scene after scene there is an upbeat music that will reduce the tendency of the audience to be bored. And it is hard to be bored watching a love story combined with comedy, not like action. There are two main Characters in this movie. The female main character is portrayed by Jennifer Lopez, Marisa Ventura a divorced maid of Manhattan Hotel running as a manager who is supporting her child named Thai. The male major character is Ralph Fiennes played by Christopher Marshall, Mr. Fiennes is a senatorial candidate, who got in loved with Marisa. This movie applies every element appropriately with every scene which made the movie more realistic and believable. The Mise-en-Scene (me zan sen) which means the staging of a play or movie, including the setting arrangement of the actors, movement of acting, setting and décor, lighting, props, costume and make-up, basically things in front of the camera. All of this was emphasized appropriately in the movie. First the the setting, the main setting in this movie is the Manhattan Hotel which Marisa “Maria” Ventura (Jennifer Lopez) is working as a maid, is the primary setting of this movie. Every detail of props and talents including their costumes, in this setting is properly emphasized, that makes it more believable. The simple make-up of the characters specially Jennifer Lopez added to the Cinderella effect of the movie.
