It was about 10:30 when we heard the [do you mean you heard the news across the radio?]across the radio: Med 2 Priority 1, trauma code, patient approximately thirty-one years of age, male, involved in a pedestrian verses vehicle, patient found lying in a ditch prone position (face down), and unconscious, unresponsive, pulses apneic. Patient’s left arm was amputated to the elbow, oozing venous blood, multiple lacerations to face, arms, chest, legs, and five-inch laceration to the stomach, and six inch hematoma to the back of the head also accompanied by a laceration, and a possible broken leg. Logged rolled patient onto back board maintained c-spine position, placed cardiac pads on patient. Patient found in P rhythm. We are following ACLS protocol. Patient is unabated. Are there any orders or questions? The nurse responded “no orders, no questions room on arrival”.
