Prostitution Should Not Be Legalized
Closing the door to the shop while waving goodbye to my fellow coworkers, I began my short walk home after a hard days work. This is only one of the many examples of prostitution. ... The excuses and advantages of legalized prostitution are by far outweighed by what is lost to the prostitute and the consequences of what she or he is doing, therefore does not justify the legalization of prostitution.
The majority of those who are prostitutes do not do it because they want to or enjoy it. ... The Council for Prostitution Alternatives, Portland, Oregon Annual Report in 1991 stated that: 85% of prostitute/clients reported history of sexual abuse in childhood; 70% reported incest. ... Not only the prostitute herself but those who loved her are also pained either directly or indirectly. ... If prostitution were legalized and made an occupation the damage that it would still do would be numerous. ... The chances for getting a higher paying job for an ex-prostitute would probably not be very high. Finding someone who would accept her past job would also not be very easy. ... These are just a few questions to ask before talking of how beneficial legalizing prostitution would be.
Some might argue that it was the world’s oldest profession and regardless of laws passed it will not go away. ... Just because it has been around for so long does not make it right and therefore should not be allowed.
