Balance in Nature

Final: Fellow Speech “ To be in balance with nature is to be successful” Earl F. Spencer Upon entering the professional world of Landscape Architecture I was put in the height the height of the “SUV Era.” The Sport Utility Vehicle Era was a time when the public had little to no emphasis on protecting the environment. The SUV represented this era perfectly, the bigger the better with no concern for the ground its very own wheels roll on! I felt an enormous potential for change and the integral part that Landscape Architects would play in the rethinking of our future. It was not just about building “Greener” but about something bigger, getting people to think about the environment and the enormous stress we were putting on it. “Nature knows no indecencies; man invents them.” Mark Twain The world operates in a circle of reusability and man was acting as a square.
