A Child Called “It” is the autobiography of David Pelzer’s life from the ages of 4 to 12. Severely abused as a child, David grew up in horrible living conditions. At one time his mother used to be nurturing and loving, but drastically transformed into an abusive merciless woman. David had four other brothers at the time, but none of them suffered as he did. His life used to be that of a normal child’s which soon became a never-ending nightmare. David was forced to complete many chores around the house. Essentially he was the “household slave.” If his chores weren’t finished to the satisfaction of his mother, David would receive beatings and punishments of all kinds.
