The Theory of the Great Man versus The Theory of Determinism is a topic that has been heatedly debated by historians for quite some time now. While the Great Man theory states that the individuals are personally responsible for specific historical events, the determinist would argue that the fate of that event is predetermined and the event would have taken place without that individual. In using the infamous physicist and mathematician Albert Einstein, one will see that it is clearly the individual who defines the event and that it cannot possibly be predetermined.
These Great Persons are said to take on sort of ‘super-natural’ powers, making them gifted and giving them vision. ... While Einstein was no ‘superhero’, he was a hero in the eyes of scholars as his theories revolutionized the Science world. All of his life, Einstein had a knack for Mathematics and Physics, and was so talented that he would skip class to learn on his own. ... Einstein also developed the quantum theory and worked out an equation for the diffusion of particles. ... Einstein came to the rescue and solved this problem with his equation, E=MC2, proving for the first time that mass was related to energy. ...
Yet, the most important factor in determining that Einstein was a truly Great Man is the fact that he changed the fate of an entire generation and our understanding of this life on Earth.
