Auguste Comte was a Frenchman (1798-1857) based on our readings he is the father of Sociology. ... When he claimed to have invented the new science of sociology, he said that it was going to be the science that held all other sciences together. As in the course of Positive Philosophy, he said that a science must depend on the previous science to be understood. So he named is theory Social Physics at first until be discovered that social physics was used for social engineering, so he changed it to Sociology. ... He applied methods of observation and experiment, as would any other scientist in their field, in forming Sociology. ... This is where science provides the means to improve society. ...
Sociology is considered a science by virtual of how the termed sociology came into existence. It is however, not viewed as what many called the “hard” science, that is, physics, biology and chemistry but because of its systematic methods of discovery it is seen as a direct connection to the scientific world in which we lived.
