In the book Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, called Conrad in this paper, the reader is taken on a journey with a man named Marlow. ...
What is the Heart of Darkness? ... I think the book leads you to believe all three but it becomes apparent after truly digesting the book what the heart of darkness really is. ... In those final seconds he really sees what the horror is and what the heart of darkness is and it leads one to some interesting conclusions about Conrad and his views on life. The heart of darkness is at the core of every man and at the core of every man is the need to attain power. ...
At first as one is led to believe that the heart of darkness is the jungle and all of its “uncivilized” ways. ... Once you are thrown into the jungle and you look at all of the relationships that he has with the people there you also are led to believe that the heart of darkness is not just the uncivilized jungle and it’s people, you are led to believe that it is imperialism as well. ... So one would automatically believe that imperialism is what Conrad is trying to get across as the heart of darkness. ...
In coming to these conclusions on this book Heart of Darkness I can’t help but think that Conrad was a horribly sad person.
