A father can be viewed in many different ways. The aspects brought into a child’s life by their father can lead to a positive or negative outlook for the child. The varying aspects of a father in relation to a child’s point of view are strongly shown it the poems, “Bored”, “daddy”, and “My Papa’s Waltz”. In Atwood’s poem “Bored”, the child express his extreme boredom he feels while doing random tasks yet he is happy and content at the same time. He is able to find joy from this boredom because he is spending time with his father. When the child states, “Perhaps though boredom is happier, it is for dogs or groundhogs, now I wouldn't be bored“he is showing how something many of us would consider boring under normal circumstances would also be happy after a while and adjusting. This poem shows the exit of this boring (and also happy) place, home, into the world of knowledge... for boring may be happy, but it is ignorance although it seems observing can be a quick cure of boredom, as your mind searches for something to focus on.
