The Greek language has a great influence on the English language and a full understanding of the English language requires a deep knowledge of its Greek roots. Not only does it have an influence on the English language but it also changed the English language and till today, most of the words we used originated from Greece.
Greek has a great influence on the modern English which was in the 16th century. There are many theories about the origins of the Greek language. One theory suggests that it originated with a migration of proto-Greek speakers into Greece, which is dated to any period between 3200 BC to 1900 BC Another theory maintains that Greek evolved in Greece itself out of an early Indo-European language. According to the Webster International Dictionary, the total of the word stock of the English language is 166,724 words, out of which 41,214 are Greek.
