the worse, we now see a more assertive side for Lady Macbeth, and the opposite side of Lady Macbeth contradicts the Lady Macbeth we saw earlier on in the play. At the beginning of the play, we see Macbeth as a valiant soldier, fresh from the glory of his achievements on the battlefield. This all changes once he meets the witches, and falls under their spell and that of his manipulative wife. Macbeth becomes obsessed with the ambition to become king - and to stay in that position. During the course of the action of the play we come to share the private life of a power-hungry man and his wife - two people who will stop at nothing to achieve their selfish aims. Act 1, Scene 7 is the first of the scenes in the play that draws us into the start of the Macbeth’s hunger for power; this scene is really a turning point in the play and s the fuel that sets alight the fire in the Macbeth’s heart.
