     This play is all about a boy, Ronnie, who was rejected from a naval collage because he stole a postal order and his father, Arthur, sewes the naval collage because he believes that Ronnie didn’t steal it.

     On first reading of this play I did not see how violet had a major role, purly because she does not appear in it very much. ...

     In this novel, The Winslow Boy by Terence Rattigan, Violet is the parlour maid of the Winslow family. Violet, throughout this whole novel, brings information and gossip into the play so that the audience can find out what has been happening outside of he room for the play is a 3 walled play. Violet does not, to me, seem conform to what a parlour maid should be for she does not complete correctly the parlour maids, of the times, duties. ... as we read this novel we realise that Violet does all these things that the article tells a parlour maid to do exactly wrong.
